Everytime I try to tab or space to indent using word, it doesn't seem to
work. How do I do this?

Sounds like you want a Hanging Indent. Open your document, click "View",
"Print Layout" (not necessary, but shows you what you have got). On the
left hand side of the ruler you will see your margin. You will also see
three small symbols (one at the top and two at the bottom of the ruler. The
top one (home plate looking thing) is called "First Line Indent". If you
click and drag it to the right, your first line will indent to that point.
The other "home plate looking thing" at the bottom is called a "Hanging
Indent". Drag it to the right and all word wrapping of all lines except the
first line will wrap to that point. This sounds like the one you want. The
bottom object (small rectangle) is the "Left Indent". If you click and drag
it to the right the entire paragraph will indent from the left hand margin
that amount.

You will need to be careful to not click the "Left Indent" rectangle if you
want to apply a "Hanging Indent".

FWIW - you can also click "Format", "Paragraph", click the "Indents and
spacing" TAB and set these features. Play with it a little. You'll get the
hang of it soon!
