How do I increase the size of the "task pane" font?

I wish to do this without changing the PC's "display" settings. I find it
difficult to read the task panes because the font used is miniscule.

As far as I know, there is no way to do this. Just in case there is a way
using VBA, you may want to ask in a programming newsgroup such as
microsoft.public.word.vba.general.

The font size in the Help task pane (topics only, not the Search Results) is
based on the View | Text Size selection in Internet Explorer. This setting
doesn't seem to affect any of the other task panes.

This makes sense, because Help topics in recent versions of Office are a
kind of web documents (which, obviously, is not true for, say, the Styles
pane).

Yes, HTML Help was introduced in Word 2000, I think (where it was quite
unpopular).

The fact that the help window was docked to the Word window and caused the
document to resize was quite annoying, yes. But the alternative was worse:
keeping the Help window "floating" caused it to disappear behind the
document window if/when you clicked in the document! Now, fortunately, the
help window is "always on top" again, as in older versions. (But help
*contents* seem to be more difficult to locate with each version. <sigh>)

Hi Stefan,

In Word 2007 help you can choose the floating or on top behavior by toggling the green Not on Top/Keep on Top pushpin at the top of
the Word 2007 help Window. While there isn't a docking choice, at least you can still resize the Window :)

Bob,

Thank you for clarifying that. I can't think of a situation where I'd ever
want the help window to float, though. I would only find it annoying to
"lose" the window, having to click the taskbar to re-activate it...

Hi Stefan,

The Office 2007 help 'feature' I dont' recall being able to see a difference in is when you right click on the Help status bar and
you choose the 'View Shortcuts' option.

For 'floating' I would have thought that perhaps MS would have setup the F1 key to toggle the help window back on top once Help was
opened.

The 'keep on top' setting only keeps Help on top of Office apps, other apps can take away the focus.

Not that I had noticed that option, but now that you mention it... No matter
if the option is checked or not, I don't see any shortcuts. (By the way,
shortcuts to what?)

Well, that makes sense. If not, it would be annoying.

After 5 years of using WORD 2003 and IE6, I discovered this effect today. It
is an understandable association, if somewat odd. So, if I upgrade to IE7
and WORD 2007, will the HELP pane text size in WORD be affected the same way?

P.S. Fairhope, AL huh? I "grew up" across the bay in Mobile.

Help in Word 2007 doesn't use a task pane but rather a floating dialog, but
yes, the font size of *everything* in that dialog (including the search
results) depends on the text size selected in IE.
