How do I get rid of XP and re-install 2000?

I just bought a brand new computer with Win XP home edition already
installed. Unfortunatly the HD is not partitioned and I really need
partitions. As a last resort I thought I'd scrub the HD and re-install XP and
add the partitions then. However, the totally crappy and useless "recovery"
disc that was provided by the computer's manufacturer spmmicro.com (a
company that obviously has no clue what they are doing ) has absolutely no
option for re-installing WinXP. I don't know how these guys get away with
this crap.
Anyway - what I'd really like to do now is just scrub the HD completely and
put trusty old Win 2000 on it. That's an OS I know and trust and I don't care
if I'll have to search around for drivers.
I just want this XP off of this system so I can install 2000 and get back to
work!
Oh...and there is no 3.5 floppy to use a boot disc in.
Any suggestions?...Please?

Tom;
You should ask this in a Windows 2000 newsgroup:
http://aumha.org/nntp.htm

But first I would contact the computer manufacturer.
They need to provide a way to restore the computer to original condition.
What does the recovery disk do if it does not return the computer to
original configuration?

If all you need is more partitions, you can not modify the Windows XP
partition from within Windows XP.
For that you need a 3rd party program:

Just boot from your Windows 2000 Professional CD ROM. (You may need to
ensure your BIOS is set to do this - see your manual for this)
You can then partition and format the hard disk as you want - note you will
loose all data and installed applications.
Replacing the OEM installed OS will mean you are no longer entitled to any
support from that OEM. Also check you have all the Windows 2000 drivers for
your new PC.

They get away with "this crap" because the consumer allows it.

Did you ask, before giving them money, how you would recover your system in
case of a problem? When they told you that they had a "Recovery CD", did
you then ask if that was a fully functional Windows XP CD or if it was some
sort of image of the system? When they told you it was indeed some sort of
image/automated install procedure - not a fully functional Windows XP CD,
then you then ask how much it would be to add a fully functional version of
Windows XP instead of this image/automated restore?

And now that you found out - did you call them and find out if they could
send you the CD instead? You did say it was "brand new".

Put in your Windows 2000 CD just like you would Windows XP. Boot and
install.

If you only know how to do this from some sort of DOS environment, then go
to bootdisk.com and download a boot disk and make it into a bootable CD.
(The first option is better.)
