Ever since I last ran Windows Update I've acquired a star in my taskbar
telling me that support for SP1 ends in October. Is there any way to
remove this (without installing SP2)? I've tried SP2 before and had major
problems with it. Thanks.

verified previously.
MS, stop pushing stuff at me I don't want, or at least let me opt-out.
Apple computers are looking better every day!

happens - won't occur until the second half of 2007 - some say
