How do I get rid of Norton AntiSpam?

I have Norton Internet Security 2004 and the Firewall/AntiVirus portions
are serving me well.

Since I get my mail via IMAP server, I have no need for Norton
AntiVirus. I check a few small POP accounts and Outlook's built-in spam
filter works on those.

How do I get rid of the "Norton AntiSpam Folder" folder and the toolbar?
Don't tell me the obvious of customizing the toolbar to delete it and
dumping the folder. I do that and as soon as Outlook starts up again
it's back.

I have all the AntiSpam settings turned off in Norton.

Suggestions?

Uninstall it by using Add/Remove Software in Control Panel? Also check
Norton support for this.

Unfortunately, Add/Remove is only allowing me to get rid of AntiVirus or
Parental Control. Norton's tech support says it should be a separate
option in the control panel, but it's not.

I guess I'll have to email support. I've found other references to the
problem on the Web, but no solution. It appears to be all-or-nothing.

Is that a typo? I presume you mean antispam - you *do* need Norton
Antivirus, or another AV product.

C\:Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\Antispan\MsouPlug.dll

... which is the Outlook Plugin used by Norton AntiSpam to load in the
application... by renaming this dll... it no longer loads and appears not to
have an consequences on NIS2004...

You can remove AntiSpam from Outlook (but not Outlook Express) since it uses
a plugin DLL.

Just rename the Outlook plugin DLL and you won't see the toolbar again.

The plugin is located at: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec
Shared\Antispam\MSOUPLUG.DLL on my system

In the same folder there is a file called ASOELNCH.DLL which does the same
for Outlook Express but since Symatec expect OE to be present on your system
using the same trick doesn't work for that. If you rename it you will get
error messages popping up and NIS may think the installation is corrupt.

Relief at last!! This seems to have done the trick. Thank you!!!!!!!!

wow, i'm so happy -- this worked!

but -- can anyone tell me about suppressing the toolbar for Outlook's Business Contact Manager? Same problem, the obvious / intended customization just will not let you move or remove this toolbar.
