From the Format menu, select Borders and Shading and if you have the
relevant part of the document selected, you will be able to remove the line
which is actually a Border.
To turn off the option that created the line, from the Tools menu, select
AutoCorrect Options and on the AutoFormat As You Type tab, uncheck the box
against "Border lines" under the "Apply as you type" section of the dialog.
