how do i get mail automatically without clicking send/receive

i do not receive email unless i press send/receive. i would like to
automatically receive email & be notified on my desk top when new mail arrives

You have to state what version of Outlook you have in order for anyone to be
specific, but by specifying a send/receive interval, you can achieve what
you seek.
