How do I get 'insert' to imbed the picture and not link it?

When I try to insert a picture into a word document only a link is created.
I want to imbed the picture. The imbed feature use to work but I don't
remember how long ago. I do keep the sytem current with all available
updates.
I've tried the arrow next to 'insert' but that doesn't help either.

Another user asked for just the opposite the other day and I suspect was
told this could be accomplished only with a macro. I would imagine that a
macro must be the cause of your situation as well. In Tools | Macro |
Macros, look for a macro named InsertPicture.

I don't have any macros associated with Word. It's a puzzler.
