I have series of text boxes in portrait word document. They resemble a table
but are discreet units (can't SELECT ALL/COPY/PASTE into ANY format).
MS PP 2003 is the version
ditto MS word

Well first off, if the doc cannot be unprotected and you cannot select
all, you are limiting yourself pretty good. As long as you do not need
these to be live in Powerpoint, you can always use Snagit and capture
the table and then import it into your slide as a picture or graphic.

Secondly, you can always insert the .doc file as an object using the
"Insert Object" command. Just select browse and locate the file
yourself. Then you can choose to keep the link to the doc or break it.

Whoa! That was slick. Thanks Todd for the Insert Object tip.
I've yet to see it all out but at least we have it on the screen.

Hello,
This is indeed a slick way of inserting a word Document into PPT and
retaining all formatting. However, if I have several pages, only the first
page is inserted. How do I insert all the pages from Word into PPT?

Thanks,

B

Keeping in mind that PowerPoint won't "flow" content from one slide to the
next, how would you want multiple pages from a Word file to appear on a single
slide? What's the effect you're after?

Hello Steve,
I don't want multiple pages on one slide. I want one page from word to
correspond to one page in PPT. Using the Insert/Object works I was just
hoping that there was a way of zeroing in on an individual page in word to
bring it over to PPT and insert it into a specific slide. i.e. Put Page 3
from word.doc to slide 7 of PPT.

How do I delete whole pages in word?

Thanks,

WB

You'd have to do it a page at a time then, or perhaps there's some way to automate
the copy/paste from Word to PPT via VBA. I'm guessing that people automating Word
would have more experience with this; might want to ask in the Office Developer
Automation group.

I'm not sure you can. As I understand it, a page in Word is a random sort of thing
... it's however much content will fit on the currently selected page size, given
the current formatting of the content. The content flows as needed from page to
page. If you want to lock content to a single page, I think you need to use frames
and lose lots of hair and get yourself kicked out of nice places for using that
kind of language. ;-)
