When I send an attachment email to a particular person who does not utilize
Outlook, they don't get it. When I reply and attach, the field "attachment"
shows up and then they get it. How do I get files to attach that way from a
new message?

they should get it! What email account are they using? what message format
are you sending with?

I was using Rich Text but then switched to Plain Text with no help.
The attachment format is set to default but I tried changing it to UUEncode.
The attachment originaly goes in the body of the email and when I "reply"
and re attach, it goes in the "attach" field and I think that this may? be
the problem?

forget using rich text!
The attachment should be attached and not in the body.
Try html as the format and try attaching the file (via the paperclip icon)
instead of inserting it.

I have switched to Plain Text Formatting and Whala, I got the attachment
field I was looking for! Thank you.
