I need to install a single program of bonus software that
came on my old printer's CD. The problem is that when I
insert the CD it immediately goes into setup and autorun
and I do not want my old printer stuff put on my newer
computer. The bonus software is Microsoft Picture It! I
use a computer all the time and I am embarrassed to say
that I do NOT know how to browse any installation CD to
avoid having whatever is on it to begin automatically
installing. This includes when I want to browse my
Windows XP CD to look for or extract a file.

Open MY Computer, right click on then CD drive, select
properties. Find the autorun setting and disable it or have
it prompt for action.

Should be able to cancel out and then use Windows Explorer to browse the CD and click on what you want to install.

Hold down the shift key when you insert the CD to prevent autoplay/autorun.
After a few moments use windows explorer to view files on the CD.

Lucky9: How do I "cancel out" as you suggested? That's
is the part that I do not know how to do. What keys do I
press to "cancel out?"

Lucky9: You still did not tell me what keys to use or
buttons to push that allow me to CANCEL OUT in order to
stop the automated install so that I can use Windows
Explorer to brows.

I quote Bob in this thread for your help " Hold down the shift key when you
