The manaufacturers of my pc did not supply me with a xp
setup disk. I would like to install another linux based OS
alongside my windows xp. However if a problem occurs my
manufacturer will charge me £40 to fix the problem.
Considering I legitametly own a copy of XP how do i get the
installation disk?

The manufacturer is the only source unless you want to pay full price.
Any other disks probably will not work with your Product Key.

Time computers say Microsoft stop providing windows setup
discs. Am I entitled to a copy from them because UK law
allows license owners to own a backup copy of any software
or copyrighted material for backup purposes?

If I format the OS partition and then install windows from
another disk will that work?
I have not still not activated my windows xp that was pre
installed.

If Time computers did not provide a CD, that is because their
customers do not need a CD.
They have to provide some way of restoring the computer.
Time may do it with a hidden partition.
Time may also have a way for you to make a recovery CD, but you need
to contact them for the options they provide.

Microsoft will not give or sell you a CD except at normal retail
price.

UK law may allow license owners to own a backup copy of any software
but that does not mean you are entitled to a copy.
That means you legally can make a copy at your own expense, no one has
to help or provide the copy. \

The Product Key on your computer will probably not work with another
CD.

Time computers is your only source.
If this is unacceptable, return the computer.
