How do I force a device put of PIO mode?

In my device manager I see on my main my 2 hard drive in UDMA Mode 5 & 6 on
secondary (CD & DVD) 1 is PIO (DVD/CD Rom) & Other is Ultra DMA Mode 2 (DVD
burner) How can I force my DVD/CD Rom Player back to mode 2 as it use to be
& somehow went to PIO mode & causing sorta slow down. I uninstalled device &
reinstalled it same thing goes back into PIO mode.
Help!

Set the transfer mode to "dma if available"
If it doesn't work, the 2nd ide controller should be uninstalled.
Reboot and it should reset itself...

ok worked thank Dave
I wonder how it got that way? could of been software issue I had uninstalled
NEODVD & NeoProducer bad programs.
