How do I find a missing personal folder?

I recently got a message when in outlook telling me I needed to create a new
personal folder (don't remember why). I did that and now my old folder seems
to have disappeared. It was there the first day but now even when i try to
search for it, I can't find it. I've tried every type of search I could think
of and am not able to pull up my folder. All of my contacts and saved e-mail
messages were in that folder. I use office 2000 so I guess that would be
outlook 2000.
 
Search for pst-files and make sure you include hidden files/folders in your
search.
