how do i fade out the index page of a web site to another page

i want the index page of my web site to fade out after say 10secs and then
display another page say news.html.
It has to fade out by time and not by pressing a button.
Any ideas?

One way is Transitions, but they only work in IE.

You might be able to find a javascript that will do it.
