how do i do updates if i fformat and reinstall with my product key

i was wondering if i format my computer and install the
xp again with my product key and start downloading
windows updates will you deactivate my product or will it
stay active....i got xp home with my laptop but no cd but
i do have my product key

You shouldn't have an trouble with a legitimate copy of Windows XP. You
will have to call Microsoft when you get to the Product Activation phase
of installation. They will help you set up a new Activation code.

But how will you do the reinstall if you don't have the CD? Are you
planning to use a Recovery Disc?
