I just bought a new PC with Wind XP to replace an oldere PC. I have a network using a wired router and an external DSL modem. I don't have a clue how to network the new PC.

Is it as simple as plugging the same cable that I use to connect the older PC and let Wind XP detect the cable and let it do it's thing?Or does it take more than that?

Thanks guys, boy I'm glad that I posted my question before connecting my new PC to the router. I just bookmarked for now since it's going to take some time. I don't know if I'm being realisitic or not, but based on my experience lately I was trying to keep my new PC stand alone and not get on line with it. However, if I need to get updates etc, that may not be a good idea

I have had lots of blue screens when I have downloaded trial programs or whatever using my oldere PC with Win98 and being told that XP is somewhat vulnrable. I do understand that having a router it acts almost like a firewall, since all IPs are hidden behind it but I still was getting those problems and not to mention the stupid blue screens.
