I'm sure there is a totally simple way to do this, but I can't figure it out.
I can't even find the topic in the help sections I've perused. Can anyone
out there help a computer-challenged dummy? Thanks.

"Display" how? Are you looking for a way to insert them? Try Insert |
Symbol. Are you inserting them and they're not displaying properly on the
screen?

No, nothing that complicated. In Word 2003, when I clicked on Webdings, it
would bring up a table showing the various symbols. When I click on Webdings
in 2007, nothing happens except that when I type, it's in Webdings. I'm
trying to figure out how to get the "chart" that shows what symbols are
available. Thanks for your help!

In Word 2003, the only way to get that chart was to click Insert >
Symbol. In Word 2007 it's similar -- at the far right on the Insert
ribbon, click the Symbol button and then choose More Symbols at the
bottom. The dialog you get is the same as before.
