Start | Control Panel | Security Center | Windows Firewall.

For more information, click Start | Help and Support, and see the
topic "Windows Firewall".

Blair,
If you are using the Free version of AVG, I don't believe that you do have a firewall feature. It is included with, the paid versions. So you will to use the firewall provided by MS, in your router, or third party ones, like ZoneAlarm. So as soon as possible enable a firewall, especially if PC is connected to the internet.

Thanks for the information. As it turns out I did not need to disable the
firewall as I thought I should in order to reinstate my network which I was
having trouble with.
