How Do I Disable Administrator Logon Screen After .NET Framework is Installed?

Hi everyone.
I'm using Windows XP Pro.

Recently, I installed a backup program (Drive Image 7) that required
the .NET framework to be installed.
After installing the .NET framework, whenever I bootup or reboot the
computer, the Administrator Logon screen appears. I have to click my
name to enter Windows. This has never happened before.

Also, the same Admin. Logon screen appears whenever the screen saver
kicks in.

I don't want or need this Logon screen to appear at all. Is there a
way to configure Windows XP so that this Logon screen never ever
appears? If so, what is the procedure?

Thank you!

No, sorry, this does not provide the information I'm seeking.
In fact, it made things worse.
This article talks about disabling the welcome screen. When I do
that, I see a different log off/restart screen, and when I reboot, I
see a screen where I am asked to enter a password. There is no option
to cancel, so I leave the password screen empty and click OK.

I want to reboot directly into Windows, which I was doing just fine,
with no preliminary screens of any kind, prior to installing the .NET
stuff.

Anything else I can try, other than uninstalling .NET, which I still
need? Thank you.

PowerToys > Tweakui will do it.

Click on Start and run: type in control userpasswords2
Uncheck the box User must enter a username and password.

Which feature in Tweak UI, please?
PowerToys > Tweakui will do it.

Michael,

This created radical changes to my desktop and Start menu.
I configured the desktop and Start menu to Windows Classic mode,
because I don't like Luna. After rebooting, I got the Luna desktop.
My custom-created desktop was gone; many folders and shortcuts that I
created were missing. The Start menu is the default menu that appears
when you first install Windows XP.

System Restore failed to restore the computer. I now have to
configure the desktop and start menu all over again.

This of course is not your fault, since you were only trying to help,
but I would suggest in the future, if you recommend this option to
anyone, warn them to do a system restore point, create a disaster
recovery image backup, or backup their settings, prior to using that
Run command.

You are quite right about the restore point; it should be a part of all
instructions. Nonetheless, this procedure should have done nothing more
than cause your setup to boot directly to the desktop. It may only have
been a coincidence that the problem you specify appeared afterward. Was
there anything else you were doing? This change doesn't effect the desktop
or user profile in any other way of which I'm aware.

Looks like this probably comes as "Better late than never" news,
but I think the "fix" you need can be found in this KB Article.

Daniel,

It may have been a coincidence as Michael Solomon said. I've suggested it hundereds of times, as do other MVPs. This just sets the autologon to ON and does not modify any policies, as far as I know.
