How do I determine a template in which a document was saved by so.

I have a newsletter saved by someone else, in Word, on a MAC. How do I open
it in a readable form in Word in a PC? She says she saved it using a Word
newsletter template, but doesn't know which one...

Hi Mike-

As long as you're dealing with fairly current versions of Mac/PC Word, you
_should_ be able to simply open the file as any other. The specific template
it is based on will most likely make no difference.

What does cause layout problems are fonts, printer drivers & other issues
which may or may not be at play.

For future reference, it is best if a copy the file created on the Mac is
saved in a PC format first or emailed as a 'PC Friendly' attachment.

If double-clicking from the email program is not working:

Try saving the file to hard drive and use File | Open to open it. Leave File
| Open set to "any word document".
If you normally can see .doc extensions and this file doesn't have one, you
may need to add it manually for double-clicking to work.

PS. CyberTaz, it is not possible in MacWord 2004 to save a doc in WinWord
format. There is no such thing, because it's been the same file format
since Word 97, although certain features are version dependent, and Mac to
windows might run into similar problems as Word 2003 to Word 97 would
encounter. All the Mac user needs to do is make sure the file has a .doc
extension and use windows-friendly email attachments, and not use periods or
slashes in the filename.
