how do I delete a leading space in a whole lot of cells?

yes there is. TRIM. For example, =TRIM(" ABC") gives result of "ABC" and not
" ABC".

All of these cells I want to remove the leading spaces from contain

It also works with a cell reference, i.e.
=TRIM(A1)
