How do I delete a borderline within a cell?

In Word, a border line was automatically created inside a cell. Later I
wanted to delete it, but couldn't select it. I could only delete it by
deleting everything in th cell.
 
Place your cursor in the cell where you want to delete the borders, then
click on Table | Select |Cell. Then go to Format | Borders and Shading and
select none. That will remove the borders but not your text. I hope this is
