one user on our network has office 2000. when she saves an excel file
created in excel 97 it automatically saves as excel 2000. When another user
with 97 then saves this file it says that this file was created using a more
advanced version. How can I set the 2000 excel to save as 97 as a defalt?

Hi
normally the file format between Excel 2000 and excel 97 is fully
compatible. You'll only get this message and Excel will re-calculate
the file. AFAIK no chance to prevent this
