How do I create "separate instances" with Word '97

When I have two or more Word '97 files (pages) open, I currently have to
minimize the one I've been using in order to maximize and access another one.
I would much prefer to have them appear as "separate instances" down on the
taskbar so that I can maximize them more easily. Is there a way to do this?
I've been looking but so far have found nothing on this. (If this isn't
possible with Word '97, is it possible with later editions of Word?)

Hi Don-

I honestly can't remember for sure, but doesn't '97 list the currently open
files in the Window Menu? Selecting the one you want from there would be a
bit faster & easier than min/max-imizing repeatedly.

Thanks Ann. I've tried starting the application for separate documents but
that doesn't seem to work. Perhaps I'm doing it wrong. I've been opening a
new instance of word for each document I open but they still congeal in a
single block on the taskbar. Is this what you meant?
