how do i create field locks

I am creating a formletter in word in applied and I want to lock the fields.
When I create a field that has an underlined line, I do not want that line to
move when information is being typed on it. How do I do this?

Create a table (you can turn off the borders if you don't want them to
show), and put each field in a separate cell. Set the table's column
width to Fixed Width, and in Table > Table Properties set the rows to
Exact heights.
