How do I correct a cursor that keeps bouncing to previously keyed.

While I am typing my cursor seems to bounce to previously typed material and
then I type over some of the previously entered words before I realize what
has happened. It is very frustrating.
 
Usually means you are accidentally brushing your hand across the touchpad
while typing. Some laptops have a sensitivity adjutment to help deal with
it. Or use a separate keyboard when you are desk-bound.
