When I go to archive old email messages the system gives the messages todays
date and renames the sender as myself. I therefore cannot search through the
messages for a particular date or a particular sender. How can I copy old
email messages from my company's server to my local drive without losing
useful information?

It's not lossed; you're working in a view with the wrong columns ;-) Make
sure you have the "From" and "Sent" columns configured in a folder with
received e-mails.

Tips of the month:
-Properly back-up and restore your Outlook data
-Creating a Permanent New Mail Desktop Alert in Outlook 2003

Thanks - but this now begs another question. How do I create a mail type
folder on my c: drive. Currently, my e-mail system creates folders only
within itself on the network drive. The whole system is driving me mad.
Thanks for your help .

Could you explain it a bit more? Also what type of account are we talking
about and what version of Outlook?
