Whever I try to install the Security update package there
is a prompt telling me that the product key used to
install xp is invalid and to contact my system
administrator. How can I contact my system
administrator. Better yet, is there a way for me to re-
enterthe product key for xp?

I guess you have an illegal copy of XP. This isn't the best place to admit
to things like that.
As for your other question: Call him on the celly!

Greetings --

Are you trying to install Service Pack 1 and getting the
following:

The Product Key Used to Install Windows Is Invalid
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q326904

You need to purchase and use a legitimate full retail copy of
WinXP Pro to perform a repair (a.k.a. in-place upgrade) installation,
using the new CD and Product Key.

How to Perform an In-Place Upgrade of Windows XP

Remember, you should also report whomever sold you the pirated
software to your local law enforcement agency.
