How do I change one word that reoccurs throughout my text?

I want to change the same word throughout the body of my paper, without
finding it each time it occurs.
 
Always mention what version you're working with, although - in this case -
for anything prior to Word 2007 you should be able to do what you need with
Edit>Replace. In 2007 you'll find it at the right end of the Ribbon using
the Home Tab.

If this isn't what you're looking for you'll need to provide a much more
detailed description of your intent.
