How do I change a file extension?

In dos I simply used the rename command. Can't do that in
XP. I want to change a .jpg file to a .mpg file. How do
you do that?
 
..JPG is an image file. .MPG is a video file. you cannot just make a
picture a video.
 
Yes, I understand that. However the video was saved as
a .jpg file so it could be uploaded. Its actually a .mpg
file.

Can anyone help me rename the extension?
 
ok, that makes some more since. first open "My Computer" goto Tools>>Folder
Opitions>>View Tab>>Uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types"

Now you can just remane your file just fine.
