I have Windows XP Professional and I am part on a
workgroup but I only want certain ip address to have
access to my shared folders. How can I accomplish this?

Some firewalls might support this kind of gimickry, but it's pretty much
useless. Use XP's user based authentication.

Jock,

Asked here, answered here. For everybody's benefit.

To filter access by ip address, I believe you'll need a third party firewall,
like Zone Alarm Pro, or Kerio. You'll designate certain ip addresses as
trusted, and open the following ports to them only: TCP 139, 445; UDP 137, 138,
445.

You can get good advice on installing and configuring your firewall at
comp.security.firewalls.

Cheers,
Chuck
Paranoia comes from experience - and is not necessarily a bad thing.
