Hi all,
I was hoping that someone could tell me how to backup the entire
outlook database. If I just need to copy a file/s, could you let me
know which file/s and where they are located. or if outlook has a
backup feature, how do I use it?
Thanks in advance!!!

Microsoft has a free download on the Office update page, I think, that makes
it fairly easy to backup your Outlook data. Either that or use the export
feature and export your entire personal folder to a file. Be sure to set up
to include sub-folders.

No, no, no. Just copy the personal folder file to another location.
Instant backup.

There is a lot of information in a PST file that will not survive an export.
Copying and reusing a PST is the only way to go.

Just be careful how you copy the PST. Outlook is *very* fussy about messing
around with PSTs. I copied one to CD and then couldn't get Outlook to
recognise it when I copied it back (it was not read-only BTW). Thankfully I
had a (identical) copy on floppy (and LS-120) which worked fine. This is not
an isolated problem. So be warned.

Warned of what? List the steps to repro your problem.
Copying a PST creates far fewer problems than exporting one as long as you
do it correctly.

Okay, you all were very helpful with this Backup question. I haven't
been getting much assistance with the following. If you could help
with this, I'd appreciate it very much.

I don't understand this at all. I'm trying to Archive all appointments
and task in Outlook XP before 6/1/02. I'm sorry, but could you please
guide me through what you are referring to step by step? I was
interested in how to use the File -> Archive feature and when it
offers the option to archive items older than _____________ (you pick
the date)

I've been trying to Archive everything in my Outlook XP (Events,
Tasks, etc.) that is older than 6/1/02, but every time that I run it,
Nothing is removed from Outlook before 6/1. I'm obvioulsy doing
something wrong. Could someone walk me through how to do this please?
I want to be able to do this so that I can then synch and purge older
information off of my PPC.
