I am working on a document/template that I downloaded from the internet (a
fill in the blanks) and it will not allow me to start a number with a zero.
Example: 0123 shows as 123. How can I change this setting? Am I stuck just
using a capital o?

It all depends on what the properties are of the field in question.
Unlock the form right click the field and check properties. Change the
number field mask to (say) 0000 which will allow you to enter 0123
or change the field type to text.
