how do i add text to a combo box in word?

i want to be able to add text to a combo box as well as be able to add text
anywhere i need within the document. i have used the forms toolbar but once i
protect the form i cannot type anything within the document. if i leave it
unlocked, i cannot work the combo box.

Mmmm. What you can use is going to depend on whether you'll have problems if you
trigger macro security?

Additionally, it would help to know what you expect from a dropdown list. Does
this have to be in the text, or could it possibly be in a toolbar? Will the
selection have to be able to flow with the text, or will it always be on its own
(one) line?
