When I am in an Office Document and want to open an existing document, I
would like to have the option of seeing my file in the Open/Look In window
along with the My Recent Documents, Desktop, My Documents, My Computer, and
My Network Files. I'd like to also be able to remove one of the above files.

What version of Word? See
http://www.gmayor.com/customize_the_word_places_bar.htm. Note, however, that
only folders can be added to the places bar. For files, see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/General/WorkMenu.htm
