I used to be able to click on a link in Outlook & it would open in IE7. I'm
using Office 2007, but the latest update changed something. I get an error
message :"This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on
this computer. Please contact your system administrator."

I have two accounts on this laptop, both with Administrator privileges but
cannot find the setting I need to change back.

Are you using XP? Click Start>Set Program Access and Defaults and reset IE
as your default browser.

Ie am using Vista. I have tried resetting the defaults. That did not work.

BTW, responding back to me via email is worthless in this case. Links are
noted in the email, but I can't access them due to the problem.

Did you try resetting IE? Tools>Internet Options>Advanced>Reset

Are don't know if you think I tried to send you a mesage, but I didn't.

Perhaps you need to remail the mailto: URL file type in WIndows' folder
options.

When you reply to this thread, I get a notification with a link to your
reply. That link is denied access. That's what I am trying to fix.
Please explain "remail the mailto:URL file type in Windows' folder options."
I don't know wher to find that option.

Thanks

Then do yourself a favour and ditch the horrible web interface. Use a
newsreader instead. You already have one on your computer.

I meant to type "repair", not "remail". Sorry. I'll have to consult my
Vista box at home to give you the details.

I have exactly the same problem and I haven't been able to solve it, even
after several hours of running repairs and trying other solutions. Let me
know if you find a solution. Thanks.

Finally had time to look. Control Panel>Programs>Default Programs>Set your
default programs. Select Outlook. Click Choose defaults for this program.
Check the MailTo Protocol and click Save.
