You can look at my post on Bootable CD. It is the same thing. You're
definitely going to need a 3rd party software ala Roxio's EasyCD
Creator. Like an idiot, I forgot that I had a copy. . No prob, since I
found it. I don't see any reason why a DVD can't be made to be bootable.

You can make either a CD or a dvd bootable, I can't see
the advantage of having a DVD unless you're planning on
trying to expand some files on it.
