How can I take 'WINDOWS' out of the bin?

Windows XP. Athlon 1800MHz.

For some reason ( No, I honestly didn't put it there ), I noticed the Recycle bin icon, had changed to the appearance of 'trash needing emptied' state. As usual, I clicked on it to empty the bin.
Up popped a message - 'Are you sure you want to delete Windows?'.

Naturally, I would rather not. However, when I open the bin, there are no files in there of any description. I have changed the folder options to show all hidden files, and still nothing shows. I have done a search of the bin with *.* and used the word 'windows' in the search, still to no avail.

I am no expert on the computer, but I'm not a newbie either, could anyone offer any suggestions, please. I would be very appreciative.

This is only bug, put a huge file you don't want into recycle bin then empty
it.
