How can I set up outgoing e-mail to go into user-specific folders.

Hi, I can set up a mail rule to automatically move incoming mail into
specified folders. How can I do that with outgoing mail? I have already set
the option to save sent mail in the folder I'm in (unless it's the Inbox).

This function was (is) available in IBM's VM/CMS operating system. As a
user, I could specify that all mail, say, to and from JOE went into the JOE
NOTEBOOK (or any other name, such as a project.)

I'm spending a lot of time moving mail out of the Sent folder into relevant
folders. I could cut this time loss in half if I could do in MS Outlook what
VM/CMS supported from 'way back in the 1980's.

I'm using Outlook 2002 but I don't believe the function exists in Outlook
2003, and I haven't found a relevant add-in.

Any help would be welcome!

Did you take a peek at the rules wizard to see if you can create rule(s)
that work for you? (You have to choose the second radio button to create a
blank rule. From there the next choice is check messages after sending.)

Yuo create the rule the same way, but you choose the "Check messages after
sending" option to create a rule that will work on outgoing messages. The
conditions the rule will test are fewer than for incoming messages, but one
may be suitable for your needs. You'll have to decide that. There is a
"move a copy to the specified folder" action that appears to be what you
want to do and as long as you disable the option to save your sent items,
this rule will produce only a single copy of the message in the folder you
specify. If you do not disable the save option, then you'll have two
copies: one in your Sent Items folder or the folder where the message to
which you replied resides and in the folder the rule specifies.
