How can I send email using AOL as a 3rd party dialler

I can receive email & sometimes send email from Outlook 2002 while using AOL
9.0 as a third party dialer. I have included the AOL IMAP settings in Outlook
& this has allowed me to send & receive AOL email in outlook but I sometimes
intermittently have difficulty sending email & receive the system
administrator error " 550 relay not permitted" even though I don't think
I've made any changes to my settings. I have authenticated my outgoing server
using the same settings as my incoming server & have reinstalled AOL 9.0.
Please help with any suggestions.

Are you sending from your AOL account and email address, or some other
account and email address? Are you using port 587 on the outgoing SMTP
server?

Sorry for not replying sooner but as mentioned previously the problem was
intermittent & seemed to have resolved itself for a while. This is why I
think the problem lies with AOL although they claim that this is not the
case. To answer your question: I do not really use my AOL email account. I
use another email account which I have used for some time with outlook. This
is the email account with which the sending problems aris,e but only when I
am connected to the internet via AOL. I have merely added the AOL email
account IMAP & SMTP settings to Outlook as I thought it may help resolve the
problem I have sending email from my regular email address/account. This
procedure has however helped only in so far as I can send & receive my AOL
email through outlook. I will try to clarify my problem: when connected to
the internet via AOL I can always receive all email for my regular account.,
I can always send email to myself from my regular account BUT I can only
sometimes send email from my regular email address to others. It seems that
first thing in the morning I can send email to anyone but then later in the
day any emails sent return the system administrator error " 550 relay not
permitted". This is all the more annoying as I have not made any changes to
the system & I get the error for emails sent in the afternoon from people
that I successfully emailed earlier that same day. The AOL email incoming
server imap.uk.aol.com setting is 143 & outgoing server smtp.uk.aol.com is
25 which were recommended by AOL in the UK & connects using LAN & my regular
email account incoming server pop.esatclear.ie setting is 110 & outgoing
server mail.esatclear.ie is 25 as default, connects using a third party
dialler. Both accounts are set to require authentication using the same
settings as the incoming mail server. Finally when I send a test message
there is no problem even when I cannot send emails to others. Please ask if
you require any further information. Yours thankfully, Doc.
