How can I save a *.GIF file from an email in MSOutlook?

I can't work out how to save a *.gif picture from an email opened with
MSOutlook (2003 version). When I use the context menu (right mouse-click)
and select 'save picture as', I'm only given the option to save as *.bmp.
Either there is a setting or add-in required to save *.gif, or else I need to
find the local temporary *.gif file on my hard-drive. Does anyone know how
to do this?
