How can I restore pictures mistakenly deleted?

I use a Microsoft XP Professional computer and foolishly deleted some
important pictures.I hope some one can tell me how to restore them.

check the trash can. otherwise, you need to do extract the bits from
the hard-drive (you need an expert)
