I have a workbook that used to pull information from a separate exce
file, but now those links are removed. However, when I open thi
workbook it still gives me the message "would like to update with link
to external workbooks". How can I remove these messages permamently?

Also, if I do in fact have links to other workbooks somewhere in th
file, how can I locate these cells?

Thanks

Hi
I doubt that there's a macro included in this file. You may either tell
what you're trying to do (as your first post did not provide much
information) Or contact the webmaster of this site:

Looking at steve's site, I cant find the Add-in you are suggesting, and
the URL is still blocked because of the error message by my corporate
ISP.

To be more clear with my original question, I was just curious if there
is a method to make your workbook realize it no longer has links to
external files.

If I made a cell reference a separate file at any point, but later
deleted that reference, the Excel file will always seem to think I am
still lnking to external workbooks. Just curious if there is a way to
fix this.

Thanks,

Depending on the version you have you can use Edit / Links / Break Links

If you want Bill's addin then I'll happily mail it to you if you so wish. This
will identify the links and tell you where they are, as well as give you options
for dealing with them should your version of Excel not support the feature I
mentiond earlier.

I am using Office 2000, and when I go to Edit > Links I get a dialog box
that allows me open the source or choose a new source. Don't think I
can disable the external links.

Would you mind emailing me the Add-in?

Thanks
