I'm panicking. I deleted a large database of customer names and addresses.
And 5 years worth of customer order info. What can I do? Using Access 2003.
I've used Access for many years, but this is the first time I've ever
deleted a much used file. And I have broken the cardinal rule of computing.
I don't have a back up. Just paper copies.

Probably an obvious question, but have you checked your waste basket or
are you on a network?

Access files are no different than other files when it comes to
deleting. Depending on your set up and how you did it, it should have gone
to the trash can. Look on your local computer first. It if was on the LAN
you may want to contact the LAN manager like five minutes ago and beg for
his or her assistance.

If neither of those work, there are other options. In any case the more
you do with your computer in the meantime the less chance you have of
un-deleting the file. If those suggestions don't work, I suggest looking
for professional help. Likely it can be recovered.

No matter how it turns out, let this be an opportunity to learn the
importance of backups.
