How can I make WORD the e-mail reader and writer?

I use now Outlook 2000 as the e-mail reader and composer of messages.

How can I use Word as that tool? I would prefer WORD since it automatically
detects the language it is written in and I do use both English and German
in my correspondence.

It presently lists as choices only Outlook Express and Outlook and Hotmail.

I am using Windows XP with SP#2, but WORD and OUTLOOK 2000.

I think you're looking in the wrong place - your default mail client,
perhaps? Leave it as Outlook.

If you want to use word as your email editor, in Outlook, go to tools |
options | mail format, and tick the box. Your version of Word must be 2000
(matching Outlook), but it sounds like you have that.

IN Outlook itself, Tools>Options, if I'm not mistaken, it's at the top of
the "Mail Format" tab.

I'd check for you myself, but I just switched FROM Outlook 2k to 2k3 last
week. I used this myself.

Great advice. Yes, I was looking all the time in many places, but you helped
a lot ending my confusion.
