How can I make my Calendar accept new apointments again?

I don't know whether it is because I have inadvertently changed a setting or
not but, I can no longer change or type my calendar apointment in Outlook
2003 anymore and wondered if anyone has the solution?
 
Have you shut down Outlook and rebooted Windows?
