I already have the 'restore' space set to maximum via the slider.
But I'm anal and do restore points prior to any install or updates.
So I'd like to have Restores back a few more days than just the
present.
How can I set it to restore more sessions???
Several points:
1. You don't say how many days the maximum of the slider is giving you now.
2. You can't increase it beyond 12% of the disk size (the maximum of the
slider).
3. For almost everyone, even 12% is much too large, and the space should be
dramatically *reduced*, not enlarged. The problem is that restore points
more than a week or two old aren't much use, because if you try to restore
to to them, you end up getting many things out of synch with each other. I
recommend reducing the 12% default to whatever percentage gives you 2GB or
so.
4. It's extermely important to understand what System Restore is and what
it's not. It is not a substitute for a thorough backup scheme. It backs up
the system only, and does nothing for your data, apps, etc.Its purpose is to
quickly get you out of trouble caused by an error when that problem is
dicovered soon. It sounds to me like you should be relying more heavily on a
thorough backup scheme and less on System Restore.
