I tell her not to answer yes to any install on demand popup. Can I
find out by keeping a log or something where she goes to get all this
crap.

Windows needs an option for the end user to answer "no and don't ask
again" to pop up boxes.

The fact that you are getting these popup intrusions implies that you have
no security installed to block them. The Google Toolbar has a good popup
blocker and it is free of charge. What security are you running on the
problem machine?

Disable ActiveX (a biggie), run a HOSTS file
(What a HOSTS file does http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm
The one I run http://someonewhocares.org/hosts/ )
and a Popup blocker - while it won't stop her from clicking on stuff
it will certainly reduce her opportunities.

It also might not be her fault, at this moment it's a bad time to surf
the net using XP
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/12/29/wmf_trojan_alert/
Folks are picking up all types of malware because of it.

A way to block the exploit is disable the problem

Hi Terry,

Well as far as if there is a way to keep her from downloading and installing
junk from bad websites there is a way. Go to Control Panel > Network and
Internet Connections(catagory view - skip if in classic view) > internet
options > security > internet > custom level > Disable the following:
Unsigned active X, active X not marked as safe, file download. This will
keep her from doing all that installing however you must go in and enable
when you need to. As for your question on how to find out what she is doing
there are several monitoring software programs such as SpectorSoft and such.
Which will take screen shots and key logs of everything she does but its not
free. Good Luck 2 ya! Also Like Kevin said you need some Security such as
Antivirus suite with firewalls and antispyware and antispam.

If you are using IE there are many ways of finding out where she has
been, what she is doing and with whom she is doing it. Are you sure
you want to know?

The tools you should look at are Pasco and Galleta from Foundstone.
What they can't tell you, reading this may help:

Try this:

It'll probably show you more than you want to know.
