I want to see all the keyboard shortcuts available, rather than having to dig
into the customize dialog box and so forth. Any possibility to do this?

You can print them.

Go to File | Print.
Select Key Assignments under the Print what drop-down list.

This prints the Global Key assignments and assignments specific to the
template you are using.

To see all the default key assignments:
Go to Word Help and search for keyboard shortcuts.
You can print the pages from the Help file you need as there are many many
keyboard shortcuts in Word.

Hope this helps,

Gilley

Search Help for "keyboard shortcuts" or "shortcut keys."

Sorry, I should have been clearer. Is there a way to have menus show the
shortcuts for all options. I.e., I already have New (Ctrl+N), but I also
want to see stuff like Insert Footnote (Ctrl+Alt+F). I can't find any option
to turn these sorts of things on or off.

Thanks.

Hi Nate,

No, there isn't any such option. The closest is in Tools > Customize >
Options, where you can turn on and off the display of shortcuts within
tooltips on toolbars. This has no effect on menu items, though.

Hi Nate,

The command on the menu is "InsertFootnote" and shows the "InsertFootnote"
dialog.
The command with the shortcut Ctrl+Alt+F is "InsertFootnoteNow", immediately
inserts a footnote, and can't be found on any menu.
If you put it in a menu, the shortcut will be displayed.

Regards,
Klaus

Hi, Nate. If you're looking for a list of all Word's commands, this is what
you can do:

TOOLS | CUSTOMIZE | COMMANDS tab
Under CATEGORY, scroll to and click ALL COMMANDS
Under COMMANDS, scroll to LIST COMMANDS; drag it to one of your toolbars
Close the CUSTOMIZE window

Click the List Commands button. You'll be presented with a list of all
commands with modifiers, key, and menu.

This has really come in handy.
